 |
We started with a wall made with those pre-made bricks for
our small garden. |
| And here's how that came out after the two
tiers were built. |
 |
 |
And then we wanted stairs to go up the hill on the
opposite side of the yard from the deck. These are 4x6 landscape
timbers that we leveled and then drove 2 foot rebar stakes into the
hillside to hold them in place. |
| Here we are with about 2/3 of the step
frames built. |
 |
 |
Once the frames were in place we filled them with gravel
and then sand and pieced the rocks in place to make the tread. We
have since planted Irish moss between the rocks. |
| Here's the finished project looking from the
top. |
 |
 |
Then we wanted to build a path from the deck over to the
steps. This meant digging out the hillside and bringing in another
couple of tons of rocks to support the hill. This one shows the
path mostly completed. |
| Next we brought in 12" stepping
stones. |
 |
 |
Then to finish we hauled in some rough cedar chips.
This is the finished product! |
| This is looking from the new steps over
across the new path to last year's deck. |

 |
Finally we get to start planting! Here's our new
"water feature" -- a rock with a little waterfall. |
